noise concern

Post #35 by Denise Martin on October 7, 2011 1:55PM

I have lived in Encinitas since 1990 and I would like to retire here. However, I am very unhappy about the proposed general plan 2035. Living in a community near El Camino Real, I hear noises constantly. Cars crashing, horns honking, engines idling, and a steady flow of sirens coming down Mountain Vista. By adding more traffic in the area (which the plan is based on) would only increase the volume and intensity of the noise pollution that occurs here. I never bought my house with the goal of having a constant hum of vehicle noise and din of a high density living project in my backyard. It is absolutely wrong for the planning commission and city council to approve this general plan as it stands right now. I am sure there are other ways to grow without seriously affecting several citizens and their rights to a quality life. It is time that the council take a step back and re- evaluate all the public hinderances that this plan would create. The people of Encinitas elect council members into their position. Please respect this by showing care and compassion for each and everyone of us. Also, it should be known that out of the many people I have spoken with, not one knew anything about this. The people who are going to be affected the most were not given a fair opportunity to get involved. Suspicious.

noise polution

I live off Via Cantebria and, thanks to all the development of the last few years,it's gotten REALLY noisy!! El Camino Real runs thru a narrow valley and all the sounds reverberate around it. I can't imagine the sounds reverbrating off and around densly built 3 story buildings! Why would the City Officials want to create a Los Angeles, inner city environment with the type of over crowded housing that cause people to move away from that area. I grew up in L.A. The growth in "New" Encinitas is following the classic way small towns grow up into big noisy cities that people who can afford to LEAVE!

Let's take our lead instead from Del Mar. They capped their development and it remains a HIGHLY desirable place to live.
